01 -  Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sausage slices and cook for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned. Remove sausage and set aside. 
 02 -  In the same skillet, add sliced onion and carrots. Sauté for 3 to 4 minutes until vegetables start to soften. 
 03 -  Stir in minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds, allowing aroma to develop. 
 04 -  Add sliced cabbage, salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika if using. Cook while stirring frequently for 5 minutes, until cabbage begins to wilt. 
 05 -  Pour in chicken broth or water and cover skillet. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cabbage is tender. 
 06 -  Return browned sausage to skillet and toss ingredients together. Cook uncovered for an additional 2 to 3 minutes to blend flavors. 
 07 -  Taste and adjust seasonings as necessary. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
